Where the birthing of the union is sustained

As I was prepping for my new post for the month, I came  across  my prayer list Bongani and i had drafted whilst we were still courting We drafted this a month after we met and it continued to grow. Going through it made me realise how faithful God was. I decided to share this with you so you are also encouraged to draw up your own personal prayer list. "Everything that is birthed through prayer, will be sustained by prayer."    Bongani and Temogo's prayer items 1.        Prayer of thanksgiving: 1Chro6v8-13; Deut8 ·          Thanking God for allowing our paths to meet and do life together. ·          Grateful for His protection and guidance in this long distance relationship. ·          Thanking Him for continually developing fruit of the Spirit in us, and striving for a pure relationship...

The girl with a stained past- Pt1

I grew up in a Christian home. We never practiced cultural things or cultural rituals. It was a traditional Christian home where we went to church and prayed and, I enjoyed church. I had a few crushes here and there and never remembered any of the sermons preached at church, but I really enjoyed singing hymns and church conferences. In a nutshell, that was me spiritually. I recall in 2002, Rhema bible church had their school ministry team visit our school for a whole week. They spoke of Jesus and giving your life to Christ, but somehow I didn’t quite get it and felt it was for those who did not go to church and are not Christian. I went to church occasionally so they were not speaking to me. All I was focusing on was the handsome boys the ministry team came with and wanted to get their numbers. I did get some guy’s number, and he was cool and all, but everything he spoke about was my relationship with Jesus. Little did I know that he was concerned about my soul when I was ...

A Sudden Revival

Below is one of the short stories i wrote for a writing competition i entered last year. Thought i should share it with you. Hope you enjoy it.  She felt like she was suffocating as her mother squeezed her in her arms. She never was affectionate from a young age. “Mom, you can let go now, I am not moving to another country, I’m only moving to another province.” “I know but the house is never going to be the same without you, I feel like I’m losing my girl.” Lisa’s mother said as she looked into her eyes whilst stroking her arms. Lisa was moving out of home. The only home she ever knew since she was as young as she was able to know that the boxes that human beings live in, is called a house. Her mother firmly holds her right hand and walks her out the door, “Go before I ask you to sleep home one more night.” Mother kisses her forehead, opens the driver’s door and quickly peeks through the driver’ window. “Baby, remember God will never leave nor forsake you. We may be far, but...

5 things no one tells you about marriage

Image
There are certain things you can never fully comprehend what people meant until you in it, and marriage is one of those things. You may read all the books in this planet about marriage, prepare yourself to be a good spouse, but the reality is, until you are in it, all is just hear say. I have been married for 11months and it’s been one interesting 11months of my life. I believe, marriage is not for a certain age, but it is for the matured and for those willing to sacrifice for the next person. One woman once said “ Marriage is spelled WORK!”. There is so much truth to that statement because every day you work on your marriage. B and I went for pre-marital counselling. In my single years, I attended a lot of single seminars and listened to a lot of marriage sermons so I prepare myself for this beautiful ministry called marriage. I have no regrets in doing so because the knowledge I received I still use it even today, however, nothing fully made me comprehend what marriage woul...

“Well, she suffered from intense period pains and when she went to the doctor, she was told she has cysts and she needs to do an op”. That was the first time I heard of cysts and the first time I realised that it is not normal to have intense period pains that paralyse. This was 2014 when I had the conversation with a friend about another friend. Knowing I also suffer from intense period pains, however, I didn’t see the need to go see the gynaecologist. By the end of 2014, I had heard of cysts from two women who had them and endured a lot of pain. “These things must be common” I thought. I continued enduring my intense period pains as myprodol would ease them for an hour or two, but I was not planning to go see a doctor. This was my thing, I am not a sickly person and never was in my early stages of growing up. So I feared doctors and hospitals. I still do! I always think 6 out of 10, doctors always tell you the worst news. But I knew that ignorance wouldn’t get me a...
